REFLECTION IN THE SERVICE-LEARNING LOG, MIRCOTEACHING AND TEACHING LOG

SERVICE-LEARNING LOG

Service-log are a simple, affordable, and effective way to egage students in community service projects and promote sustainability. One such project is planting a vegetable garden at school. The benefits of having a garden not only include the fresh produce, but but also fostering a sense of community within the school and encouraging the children to develop a sesnse of responsibility.
We promoting social awareness through planting into recyclable 2l cold drink bottles to create a sustainable garden. Reasons to grow vegetables are:
You can grow your vegetables without using chemicals or poisons.
You can save money
Home grown vegetables are very nutritious.
Children must learn that plant clean air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
children must also learn that its very rewarding to look after their plants and see them grow and then be able to eat them.
Garden are a fantastic learning tool for children. Most kids have a natural love of gardening, and their enthusiasm often spill over into the school subjects that are related to the garden. All of the traditional subjects including mathematics, life skills and language can be taught in the garden as well as in the classroom.

We identify an area in the school where we can plant the garden. We consired factors like sunlight, drainage, and accessibility. We involve the children in the process of planting the garden. This include having them help with preparing the soil, planting the seeds, watering the plants and weeding the garden. This project will benefit the learners to be able to grow their own garden in future. Planting a vegetable garden at school is not only a fun project for students but also a fantastic way to promote healthy eating habits and educate learners about the importance of sustainability.

MICROTEACHING LOG
Phonics is one of the most crucial aspects of teaching young children how to read and write. it is essential that children learn the proper sounds of each letter and how to blend them together to form words. Teaching phonics sound K is imperative because it forms the basis of many common words.
Macro teaching is an effective method of facilitating children's learning. It involves teaching in a group setting, where the teacher delivers a lesson, and the students participate in activities and discussions. Sometimes we have words in English that have silent letters. This letters are in the words, we them, but we do not pronounce them. This make it difficult to remember how to spell these words. Letters like K, W, I, B and so on.. learners will be learning sound K. learners will be learning words like:
  • knee

  • knock

  • knit

  • know (this is not a yes or no answer this is a know i know somethiong learners okey)

  • and knife

After learning this words learners will write sentences using phonic words.
I knocked my --- on the table.
Please --- on the door before you enter.
Grandma is going to --- a blanket.
You---the answer to this question?
The---is next to the butter.
I end my lesson by reviewing what the children have learned ans ask them to share what they have discovered about silent K.

LIFE OF A TEACHER LOG

Teaching foundational skills to young children is one of the most critical aspects of education. As a teacher in the foundation phase, i play a crucial role in shaping young minds, building the future leaders of tomorrow. However, teaching young children is challenging and demanding. As a teacher i need to create active learning environment because young children learn best when they are engaged in active learning that is what i have noticed during my practicals as a teacher you can't sit and relaxs and think everything is fine you need to walk around and make sure they do the work and ask them questions as well. Teachers in the foundation phase must create an active learning environment where students are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, and discovery. I need to make sure that they are writing as well and they understand the activity if not i will repeat the work again. Teaching young children is very challenging, you learn new attitudes every day,new behaviours, new teaching style every day. As a teaching i need to love my job more cause its demanding to be a teacher.
